counselling and psychotherapy service

What I offer

My training in Core Process Psychotherapy integrates Buddhist mindfulness practice with Western psychology and psychotherapeutic techniques. Mindfulness is the simple, direct practice of bringing gentle moment-to-moment attentiveness to the ever-changing flow of the body-mind process. It is a way of understanding and transforming the habits of confusion, reactivity and impulsiveness that distort our capacity for equanimity, joy and peace.

Core Process Psychotherapy (CPP) recognises that at the core of our being we are inherently whole and healthy. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space where we can look together into the places of abandonment, hurt, anger and fear in order to get to know, understand and let go of the patterns that obscure the health, freedom and ‘brilliant sanity’ at the heart of our being.

Qualifications and Experience

I have recently completed an MA training in Core Process Psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute in Devon, and am registered as a trainee member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). As well as seeing clients privately, I have worked as an honorary counsellor with Mind in Camden’s Minor Tranquilliser Project.

I grew up in Melbourne, Australia, and have been based in London for more than 20 years. My background is in writing and editing, and for many years I have also maintained a strong interest in movement and bodywork. I received a Diploma in Shiatsu-Do from the British School of Shiatsu in 1995 and regularly practice yoga, dance and movement meditation.

I have trained in Hal and Sidra Stone’s Voice Dialogue work with John Kent in London, and for the past 15 years have worked with Zen master Genpo Merzel’s Big Mind process. Both offer simple, non-threatening, effective tools for understanding and working with the many different aspects of ourselves.

I have a regular Buddhist meditation practice.

How Much?

One-hour sessions cost £45. The initial Core Process session is free of charge. This first meeting provides an opportunity to ask any questions you might have. We talk about what is happening for you and try to get a sense if therapy would be right for you.

I work at the Breathe London Wellbeing Centre,  34-68 Colombo Street, Waterloo, London SE1 8DP, which is easily accessible from Southwark, Waterloo East, Waterloo, Blackfriars and London Bridge rail and underground stations. I also work from Warwick Pharmacy, 34-36 Warwick Way, Pimlico SW1V 1RY, a 10-minute walk from Victoria rail station.
